Blinding!

Currently, I have four bicycle taillights in my possession, including the new Cateye Opticube. The superflash is by far the brightest. Interestingly, it is also the smallest and weighs in at a diminutive 53 grams. When I first opened the box, I was actually disappointed as I expected something 2-3 times as large. Planet Bike truly hit a homerun with the Blinky Superflash.With the incredible brightness of the main LED, this light is visible from a distance on a sunny day at noon. I haven't seen anything like it. In addition to the sheer intensity, visibility is enhanced by an interesting flash pattern that combines two smaller LEDs to produce a Morse-code-like signal.As far as I can tell at this juncture, there are no design flaws with the Superflash. For my purposes, however, I would have preferred a larger clip for use on my backpack.ProsExtremely brightSmallBuilt-in reflectorSturdy housingConsCould use a slightly larger clip for attaching to a backpack (very minor)Too directional (i.e. not enough spread)

Great design in theory, poor quality control

I have tested countless rear bicycle tail lights. No tail light so far is without problems. Planet Bike makes very good products. To be considered a great tail light a few requirements must be met: Easy, secure mounting, great optics for viewing straight on and from the sides, and a durable, quality switch. Planet Bike has a good, not great mount (the light tends to jiggle in the mount, which may simply be a quality control issue, not a design issue), very good straight on optics, and average optics from the side. Where is fails is in the switch category. I have purchased 4 of these lights, and two of them have defective switches. The light will change modes (from on to off to blinking) when you hit minor defects in the road. 3 stars for the light (very good straight on viewing, average side viewing), 3 stars for the mount, and 0 stars for the switch, arrives at the 2 star rating. They need to either use a Cateye type switch, or a Princeton Tec Swerve type switch.

Great for road trips.

This little steering wheel has made road trips so much easier for our family. The apps were all super cheap to download, and the games are lots of fun. The steering wheel includes buttons which softly press against the screen that serve as an accelerator, brake, and reverse. I find myself playing with it in the evening during commercials. The plastic is a strong heavy duty plastic, and doesn't feel cheap at all. If you have an iphone or ipod touch, you need to check out this toy. If your kids are into racing games at all this will be their new favorite toy for the car.

Poor quality plus very poor game apps

There're several reasons why I rate this one star only. Foremost, however, is that this thing made me drop my iPod touch. With an iPod touch or iPhone, you're to put it in a plastic insert plate, and then put the plate with the iOS device into the slot on the wheel. But neither the insert plate nor the back bracket of the wheel holds your iOS device in place. I didn't know this so as I was fumbling with the difficult setup process, I accidentally dropped my iPod touch when I turned the wheel over to lock the back bracket. The enclosed instructions are very poorly written, too. Luckily, I was standing on my rug so it seems my iPod touch is ok. We'll have to see.There are only 4 game apps that're compatible with this wheel -- and you can *ONLY* use those apps. One is free but is of the most basic and laughable quality in gameplay and graphics; it gets just 2 stars from its users. Another game costs 99 cents, while the remaining two cost $4.99 apiece (and have no reviews). I just played with the free game and like I said, it's so laughably simple and crude it's not even funny.The back bracket, which locks in place to secure the iOS device (if you haven't dropped it yet), is also rather poorly made. I had some trouble closing it completely so I could lock it. I really did NOT have a good time using this product.

Very limited in use

I picked this up on a lark more than anything else and didn't expect much out of it, which is good. The steering wheel itself is well made and comes with an adapter for different generations of Iphone/Itouch. that said using it for the driving games was novel but not really anything else. Essentially it turned my sleek, well designed Iphone into a $20 driving game I could get from Walmart. So if you want a steering wheel for you Iphone this a great choice. Why you would want to do so I don't know. Maybe this is a product waiting for the perfect app to be released to take advantage of it, I don't know. But I've found little use for it myself.

Great for 18 months and up! But expensive...

The Thomas train and train collections are durable toys. Their real value, though, is that playing with the toys allows children to act out the great Thomas and Friends children's stories they read and watch.

This is a nice layout that provides far more track than the usual figure 8 layout that gets purchased first. It also provides a scenic mat, a tressle, and a building. But it is very expensive. There is generic track available that costs far less. Our kids haven't noticed the difference. IT IS EASY TO CREATE ELEVATED TRACK AND BRIDGES USING LEGO OR DUPLO PIECES AS SUPPORTS. GENERIC CRANES ARE AVAILABLE FOR MUCH LESS.

Kids' imaginations can remarkably supply buildings and water towers and cranes, etc., so that they won't even miss what might be lacking from less expensive sets. And families can build some of these items themselves out of old boxes, etc.

Purchasing recommendation:* Choose which type of Thomas trains you will 'standardize' on. There are three kinds: This size of wooden trains from Learning Curve; larger, plastic, battery-operated trains from Tomy; and smaller, die-cast metal trains from Ertl. The wooden trains have the most products and accessories available.

* The clickety-clack (grooved to look like real railroad) track in the Thomas series is great, but it's expensive; I recommend buying generic track. ... You can literally save hundreds of dollars by buying these kinds of sets.

* Buy the Thomas and friends engines separately--and wait for sales. The kids care about the characters, so no short-cutting (ie., Brio or generic trains) here.

* Look for trains bundled with VHS videos. You can get a video and a train (on sale) for about the same price as a train alone.

Granddaughters Joy

I bought this for my granddaughter who is 19 months old. She can't leave it alone. The other toys in the house have lost their allure and the trains occupy the bulk of her play time. They are well made, provide her with motor skills improvement opportunities and she loves them. The down side (yes we're indulgent) is that it has led to buying other trains, Thomas & Friends DVD's and books. This is a great starter set and is really all she needs. More track and buildings might be needed when she gets older but she has yet to tire of any of it in the last month and a half. Parents, grandparents, friends, this is a toy that will stand the test of time and worth every penny.

My son got this for his razor dirt quad which stays in the garage in cold weather. This not only charges the battery much faster than the original charger but protects the battery from freezing during the cold weather. Be forewarned...

The description for this expansion set does not specify that you will need to mount it in the corner of a room if you want to connect it to the Starter Set. Space is at a premium in our small house (which is part of the reason why we thought Wall Tracks would work well for us....because we don't have the open floor space for a traditional Hot Wheels track). While we did manage to move enough furniture around to make enough space on *one* wall to set up the Starter Set, there is no way we could make enough empty space on the adjacent wall too. I wish we had known the limitations on the expansion sets before we purchased this. These aren't an open-ended design toy. The pieces aren't really interchangeable. The expansions connect only one way and, if you don't have the proper space for the exact track configuration, they will not work. The only thing we will be able to do to prevent this from going to waste is to set this up separate from the other set as a stand-alone track....making it a very short, rather boring stunt.

I bought this and the drift rally spinout track sets (and now that the starter set is available, I'm about to one-click that one as well).The setup takes about 20 minutes and is slightly annoying because you have to line up the attachment points pretty exactly or the track won't work super well -- it's a gravity system and as such, if the track is out of alignment then the cars can't get enough speed and can come to a stop mid-track.But -- once you set it up it is the coolest thing that begs the question -- why hasn't anyone done this before? The 3M strips don't ruin the walls in case you want to move it later (my advice is to buy extra strips (medium size) since the the strips are single use, and the kit only includes 1 extra, and you need 4 for a full install). For example, I used extra strips to stick a track set to the side of the car when we went camping.Play pattern: My kids are 2 and 4 (boys), and they actually voluntarily take turns at "driving" cars through the set. they start at the top (eldest helps the youngest to get the car started), and then cool stuff happens along the route -- in this case the car goes around a corner on a pivot, then through a see-saw bridge and then flies out the gates at the bottom. extra bonus with this set is that two cars can be stored under the bridge. smart. the only thing the kids fight about is the single car that comes with the set, but what can you do.I also like that the brackets are two pieces so that the flat part of the bracket can remain attached to the wall (remember the part about alignment taking awhile) and everything else can be snapped off and put away if needed.

Great idea, poor execution

This toy would be terrific if it just stayed together. Nearly every time my son runs his car down the track, some piece of it falls off the wall. It's a little irritating because I have to fix it repeatedly. It was so expensive, it should perform better for the price. Do yourself a favor and get the gorilla takedown version of this toy at Kohls. It's two of the Hot Wheels sets for $20. I paid more than that for just one.
