Exceeded our expectations
By Jason Pierce
We purchased this for our 7 year old and 4 year old so they could ride in it together. We chose this Power Wheels vehicle over the Power Wheels Cadillac Escalade because it has a truck bed, and we thought the kids would enjoy putting their toys in there and collecting rocks, etc. on their off-road adventures.SHIPPINGAs a Prime member, when I order items from Amazon that say "Ships from and sold by Amazon" (as this item did) I expect prompt delivery without any hassle. And, for the past 2 years I've never been let down. Unfortunately, that was not the case with this order. It was supposed to be a 2-day delivery, and it ended up taking 20-days. Amazon gave us a $10.00 credit because it didn't ship on time, and I appreciate the gesture, but that didn't make-up for the hassle. The carrier that Amazon chose to use was called ABF, and it appears they were the ones that dropped the ball. So, just a heads up, if Amazon is still using ABF to ship this item you may want to buy it locally, if you don't want to wait a month.ASSEMBLYThe truck was very easy to assemble. A Phillips Screwdriver was the only tool that was required and everything fit together without having to be forced or modified. The directions were accurate and very easy to understand. The instructions recommend two people during assembly because you have to flip the truck over for certain steps, but I managed to do it by myself without any trouble. Assembly time was about an hour, including placement of the decals.FIRST IMPRESSIONSThe truck is beautiful, with a fully functioning FM radio that gets good reception and has plenty of volume (requires 4 C batteries). The design is very sturdy and holds up to both our kids jumping in and out of it, placing rather heavy items in the truck bed, and standing on the running boards to get in/out. The battery is easy to access and the connector fits snugly but isn't difficult to remove.TRACTIONI'm really impressed with the traction this truck gets. The truck comes with three gears: Reverse, Low, and High. Reverse and Low use one rear wheel to propel the vehicle, and this actually works very well on flat terrain (grass, cement, asphalt) and on very gentle slopes. But the vehicle really shines in High gear (which Fisher-Price calls Monster Traction), when both rear wheels are used for propulsion. The truck is virtually unstoppable in High gear. It goes up very steep hills, over rough terrain, gravel, cement, asphalt, anything we throw at it, and it does so with both kids riding in it and with toys in the truck bed.BATTERY LIFEWe charged the battery, per the instructions, for 18-hours before we used it - and that charge lasted longer than any of us thought it would. With both kids riding in it in High gear, up and down hills, through gravel, grass, sidewalks, and asphalt, the charge lasted for over an hour. We purchased an extra battery so our kids could enjoy extended playtime. And I'm glad we did, because when the battery finally did run low, we simply swapped it out with the new one and they were off and running for another hour of off-road fun!MOTORSIn Reverse and Low gear, the vehicle moves at a nice walking pace of about 2.5 MPH. In High gear, it moves very quickly at 5 MPH, and you'll have to jog to keep up. The motors perform without any issues when used as recommended (i.e., flat terrain), but can overheat if you're climbing hills (not slopes, hills) without any breaks in-between. When the motors overheat the truck will simply stop working. This is different from the battery dying, where the truck will gradually get slower and slower until it can't move any longer. When the motors overheat, the truck simply stops. No warning, nothing. This isn't really unexpected, considering the strain that is placed on them in said conditions, but just something you should be prepared for if you are going to take it into hill country. If they do overheat, it's not a big deal, just let the truck rest 2-3 minutes so the motors can cool down, then hop in and off you go again!THE BAD-There is no adjustable seat or battery charge indicator as advertised on the Amazon website. This seems to be a misprint by Amazon, because the manufacturer's website (Fisher-Price) doesn't mention this feature. This was disappointing, but not a deal breaker.- There is no on/off switch or neutral gear. This causes problems when the kids get in and out of the driver's seat and accidentally step on the "gas" pedal. Not a big deal, just a design flaw in my opinion. With a bit of practice, the kids will learn to be more careful with their feet around the "gas" pedal.AFTERTHOUGHTSI am very pleased with this purchase, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a 2-seater electric vehicle. Fisher-Price nailed it with their "Monster Traction" 2-wheel drive system, and I foresee this truck lasting our kids until they're ready for their own real ATVs. Beyond the fun that this vehicle provides our children, it's also teaching them the fundamentals of driving. Who could ask for more!?

The best from powered and non-powered vehicles.
By Andrey L. Limonchenko
This was a birthday present for my older son who turned 3 at a time and he's had it for over a year now. We've bought a smaller one for a 2 year old recently and it's no where near the fun. This one benefit outweighs all of the others in the class:- Monster Traction - second speed has two wheels turning instead of one (as on all of the other vehicles that I was able to find there)You can drive on any surface with ease! We've also bought a manual pedal John Deer Tractor and the wheels are just not made for grass or bare ground. Stick with something that has two wheels powered.

Buyer Beware - Poor Service, Poor Support.
By A. Neilll
If a Power Wheels vehicle like this one breaks like our Power Wheels F150 did, you are simply out of luck unless you happen to have an authorized repair shop near you, or you have too much time on your hands, or unless of course you are fabulously wealthy and can just throw it out and buy a new one.Sure, for some issues they will ship you parts. But if something like the drive train breaks, you have to take it to one of their authorized shop. Power Wheels will not work with you on this, and the individual shops won't work with you, for fear of losing their authorized status. We don't, and since multiple 5 hour round trips (one to drop off, one to pick up) dedicated to repair the toy are really not in our current plans , we have a $400 hunk of plastic taking up space in the garage. We have repaired many other battery powered ride on toys, like the Deere tractors from Peg Perego, and they always helped us wth the parts and guided us through the repair. So next time we have 400 dollars burning a hole in our pocket to spend on ride-on toys for the kids, I guess we will be getting a Gator from that company, and not a Power Wheels F150 to replace the broken Power Wheels F150..Why did I rate it a 4 on educational? Because we and our sons both learned 2 valuable lessons. 1) Caveat Emptor , buyer beware 2) Power Wheels doesn't care once they have your money , you are not their customer, to them you are a non-entity.
